DJ Boris

DJ Boris earned recognition for his stamina in delivering twelve-hour marathon performances filled with sleek, driving house sounds. Born in St. Petersburg, Russia, he relocated to the United States at age three and grew up there. While pursuing daytime studies at New York City’s Institute of Audio Research, he launched his professional DJ work at night, beginning with a slot at Tilt before progressing to larger spaces such as Sound Factory, Exit, and Carbon. Prominence followed through events at the Roxy and a residency at Limelight, during which he also supplied remixes for Janet Jackson on “All I Want,” Anastacia on “Left Outside Alone,” and Jewel on “Stand.” His version of Pink’s “Get the Party Started” reached the top of the dance chart, after which regular flights to Miami’s famed Crobar for sets before large crowds became routine. The selections on his 2006 mix CD Believe reflected the music he played at Crobar, while the title drew from the “Believe in Boris!” message that appeared on the club’s LCD screens during his performances.
