Biography
Comparisons to fellow techno figures such as Jeff Mills and Richie Hawtin have frequently been made regarding producer Marco Carola. Naples, Italy, marks his birthplace, where he began drumming at a young age and, by 15, had turned his attention to electronic and house music. His own studio was assembled by 1993, after which he released tracks on multiple labels until founding Design Music in 1996, one of the first Italy-based techno labels. Subsequent tours throughout Australia, Europe, and America produced the albums Fokus in 1998 and Open Systems in 2001, the latter of which Carola calls an "electronic experience."
