Amelie Lens channeled her swift emergence as a leading European techno selector into the creation of spellbinding, atmospheric productions, beginning with the sparse textures of her introductory release, the Let It Go EP, issued in 2016.

Raised in Antwerp, the Belgian artist absorbed alternative rock alongside dance sounds during her formative years. Early exposure to club environments at sixteen introduced her to Boyz Noise and Ellen Allien, though attendance at Belgium’s Dour Festival ignited a deeper commitment. Delving into electronic music’s lineage while frequenting venues, she encountered her partner, himself a DJ and producer. Mastering mixing techniques convinced her that music represented her true direction, prompting a departure from her fashion profession to pursue it exclusively. Transitioning from intimate venues, Lens cultivated a distinctive approach that positioned her as an in-demand performer at major European festivals and club events. Studio work followed logically, yielding her initial EP for Pan-Pot’s Second State Audio imprint in 2016. The subsequent year brought two further EPs on the same label, refining her understated, atmospheric techno with the addition of her own restrained vocals.

Lens’s international DJ itinerary expanded dramatically by 2018, encompassing global engagements, yet she established the Lenske label that year to champion emerging underground techno artists such as Farrago and Milo Spykers while issuing her own Basiel EP. A collaborative split single with Regal appeared on Involve, each contributor supplying a remix of the other’s track. In 2019 she partnered with the Fabric label on the release of Fabric Presents: Amelie Lens, a DJ mix that captured her high-energy performance style.
