Biography
Dustin Zahn entered the world in Wisconsin and spent his formative years in Minneapolis, though his path as a dance music producer and DJ would eventually carry him from the United States to Berlin and numerous other destinations. Possessing a keen sensitivity to both organic textures and synthesized tones, he has long channeled that affinity into a single-minded drive to ignite dance floors through both original material and reinterpretations of other artists’ work.
The surge of electronic and drum‘n’bass acts that defined the close of the 1990s—among them Massive Attack, the Prodigy, and Aphex Twin—sparked his initial curiosity, which gradually hardened into serious pursuit. Without any structured instruction, he honed his abilities on turntables and software alike until sustained underground recognition culminated in a 2008 contract with the Swedish techno imprint Drumcode, nearly ten years after he first began. That association yielded the EP Moving the Chains, and his subsequent output would be divided between Drumcode and Enemy Records, the latter an imprint he himself established.
His debut album, Monoliths, appeared in 2014, followed by the 2021 full-length Gain of Function. Between those releases he maintained an active schedule of performances in venues of all scales throughout the Americas and Europe, while reinforcing his standing with the 2019 single “Stranger (To Stability)” and reworkings for Adam Beyer, Dubfire, Mark Broom, Nic Fanciulli, and additional peers.
