Biography
A veteran of the dance music scene whose energetic style and crowd command have long earned him the label of a DJ's DJ, this beloved figure has delivered headline sets across the entire West Coast while issuing a pair of full-length albums through Moonshine Records. Fellow spinner DJ Dan, a contemporary, once described him as "one of the most entertaining DJs…to watch live." Although born in Washington State, Glaude first built his reputation amid the huge early-’90s San Francisco rave circuit that included events such as Cool World and Together As One. He also held a residency at Funky Techno Tribe, the city’s respected house-music promoter and label, which naturally led to an association with Moonshine, one of the leading U.S. dance imprints and the same home that housed DJ Dan.
Glaude’s initial release for the label was the compilation Off the Hook, a collection of funky house, deep house, and techno cuts supplied by several established producers. Like many peers, he has lately devoted more energy to production work. His earliest efforts yielded the track “Soul Cha Cha,” soon followed by “To The Soul”; both appeared as singles and later featured on his second full-length CD, Mixed Live. These days Glaude splits his schedule between the club floor—where demand remains high—and the studio, where he continues to craft mixes and original material for Moonshine as well as his own imprint, Respect Recordings. The result is one of the rare house DJs able to move fluidly between sub-genres, earning equal affection from house-heads, D&B fanatics, and chill-room denizens alike.
