Biography

Gene Farris belongs to Chicago’s emerging wave of DJs and producers, yet his productions reach further back toward disco and funk than toward the city’s expected house template. Before issuing his first album, Fruity Green, on Force Inc. in 1997, he had already cut singles for Cajmere’s Cajual/Relief and the European imprints Force Inc. and Soma. Planet House followed on the same label the next year. He subsequently joined Soma and delivered This Is My Religion there in 2000. Booked 02 appeared in spring 2001.
