Donna Allen

In the opening years of the 1980s Donna Allen, a Floridian, began her singing endeavors by enlisting with the band Hi-Octane for a twelve-month tour before shifting to Trama. She next assembled Donna Allen & Company for local appearances across the Tampa region. Lou Pace handled production on her first long-player, the 1986 release Perfect Timing, whose single “Serious” secured Allen a number-five R&B placement, whose follow-up “Satisfied” climbed to number fourteen, and whose title track appeared as a duet with Howard Hewett. The 1987 album Heaven on Earth contained a cover of Maze’s “Joy and Pain” that resonated strongly on the international circuit. Public notice of her work remained scarce until 2013, when she participated as a contestant on the NBC singing competition The Voice. The independent album I’m Your Bride appeared two years later.
