Biography
Doug Anderson spent the bulk of his professional years as a founding member of the contemporary Southern gospel quartet Ernie Haase & Signature Sound, yet he departed the ensemble in 2015 to focus exclusively on solo work. Born in Lapel, Indiana, Anderson first achieved recognition as a standout high-school basketball player before continuing the sport at Purdue University in West Lafayette. While still a student, he redirected his ambitions toward music by joining the quartet Lighthouse. That ensemble crossed paths with the Cathedrals, whose lineup included Ernie Haase. Haase eventually launched an independent project and asked Anderson to participate. Ernie Haase & Signature Sound took official shape in 2003 and, throughout the following decade, emerged as one of America’s leading Southern gospel acts. Anderson began distancing himself from the group in 2011 with the release of Dreaming Wide Awake. Drive appeared three years afterward, and mounting solo interest prompted his full exit from Ernie Haase & Signature Sound in 2015. His first album after leaving, The Only One, reached listeners in 2016; the holiday collection Back Porch Christmas followed the next year.
