DRS

Alongside MC Conrad, DRS supplied a human voice to the emotive drum'n'bass sound cultivated by LTJ Bukem's Good Looking Records, appearing onstage with the label's artists and contributing to several Progression Sessions releases. At a time when most MCs found it difficult to integrate rapping with the intricate rhythms that defined drum'n'bass in the late '90s, Delroy Pottinger had already established himself as one of the few who could flow easily beside Britain's leading drum'n'bass DJs. Like numerous other forward-thinking drum'n'bass figures of the early to mid-'90s, he spent his teenage years immersed in breakdancing and the wider hip-hop culture shaped by Run-D.M.C. and Kurtis Blow. This foundation led him naturally into rapping at local DJ parties, where he soon began recording demo tapes using turntables, drum machines, and a microphone. In his late teens he started frequenting raves around Manchester and Liverpool, eventually securing the resident MC role at Club Xtreme, the venue where he first encountered Bukem and MC Conrad. Conrad later invited Pottinger to join the Good Looking camp, after which he became known as MC D.R.S. and quickly earned recognition among the scene's elite MCs. His initial appearance came on Blame's Logical Progression, Vol. 2, followed by a more prominent contribution to the same DJ's installment in the Progression Sessions series. Beyond performing live with the Good Looking DJs, he featured on Bukem's "Constellation" and served in the label's live band, Intense.
