Biography
Hailing from Agoura Hills, California, Dub Thompson is an indie rock duo whose sound draws on post-punk, Krautrock, psych pop, and dub. Guitarist Matt Pulos and drummer Evan Laffer make up the pair; they first met in middle school and only later started making music together once they reached high school. Can, Kraftwerk, the Fall, This Heat, and Pere Ubu shaped their approach, so the two spent most of those years focused on jamming rather than laying down tracks, yet they were still in their late teens when they signed to Dead Oceans. Laffer and Pulos then enlisted Foxygen’s Jonathan Rado to help craft their debut album, 9 Songs, released in June 2014.
