Biography
Oxford, U.K.-based collective Dutty Moonshine Big Band integrate British basslines and jazz alongside grime and hip-hop MCs handling vocals. Michael Rack, known professionally as Dutty Moonshine, assembled the fourteen-piece ensemble in 2010. The group soon established itself as a fixture on the U.K. festival circuit, where its eccentric sonic palette and high-energy presentation suited expansive live settings. Though initially focused on performances alone, the band issued its first full-length release, Most Wanted, in 2017. The follow-up, City of Sin from 2020, placed greater weight on the atmospheric jazz and vintage styles that defined their singular identity.
