Nicole Morier and Mia Dime comprise the eclectic electronic duo Electrocute. Hailing from Berlin, the funky pair blends jagged dance-pop that recalls the Cramps alongside the Shangri-Las. Born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Morier was raised by a hippie father and a conservative mother whose marriage ended in divorce; weekends spent with her father on the Tesuque Indian reservation immersed her in music from an early age. During the early 1960s her father penned songs for Spanky and Our Gang as well as The Cowsills, an activity the young Morier observed closely. Singing at churches and truck stops nationwide further convinced her to pursue music professionally, prompting her eventual departure from the Southwest to New Orleans. There the electro-pop scene was alive with Peaches, Stereo Total, and Chicks on Speed. Meanwhile, native Austrian Mia Dime absorbed the same buzz back home; raised by an actress and performer mother, she longed to front an all-girl group and departed her Vienna residence at eighteen to pursue that goal. The two women met in Berlin, where Electrocute was formed. Their A Tribute To Your Taste EP was issued by Emperor Norton in spring 2003.
