Biography
Hailing from Texas, Nashville-based singer/songwriter Erin McCarley first surfaced in 2009 via the alt-pop debut Love, Save the Empty, whose atmosphere sat between the styles of Patty Griffin and Fiona Apple. She had sharpened her abilities as a performer while living in San Diego, where she later joined forces with producer/songwriter Jamie Kenney to co-author the project. After settling in Nashville, a 2008 visit to Austin’s SXSW Festival attracted Universal Republic, which released the album the next year. Strategic song placements and movie-trailer exposure lifted it to number 82 on Billboard’s Top 200. Her 2012 follow-up, My Stadium Electric, appeared solely through iTunes. By the close of that year she had exited Universal to operate independently, writing new songs with Nashville friends and collaborators. Independence yielded several 2016 singles that emphasized a seductive, electronic direction and previewed the third album Yu Yi, issued in October 2017.
