Biography
Landon Pigg, an indie pop/rocker, absorbed his earliest musical lessons from the albums housed in his father's collection. The very first CD he ever purchased belonged to novelty favorite Ray Stevens. Born in Nashville on August 6, 1983, Pigg grew up as the child of a studio musician father and a mother who cherished poetry. The household spent a brief period in Chicago during his early years before he resettled in Nashville as a teenager. From there he began exploring music more intently, uncovering the figures who would shape his sound. Pigg credits David Mead and Rufus Wainwright with cultivating his love of a beautiful melody, Radiohead with urging him to pour raw emotion into his lyrics, and rock music icons the Beatles and Led Zeppelin with demonstrating the power of catchy licks and hooks. Says Pigg: "Maybe there is a naïveté in my approach. I never had a guitar lesson when I started out. I've always felt that when you don't learn all the rules you're much more inclined to break them with a smile." Producers Dan Brodbeck, Paul Ebersold, and Clif Magness—veterans of sessions with 3 Doors Down and Avril Lavigne—oversaw his self-titled debut, released in 2006. In 2008 Pigg issued the EP Coffee Shop, followed by the sophomore full-length Boy Who Never in 2009.
