Biography
Between 1989 and 1995 the German outfit Erosion put out four albums plus one EP, yet their brand of thrash often came across as half-hearted, with a truer allegiance to hardcore. Fronted by vocalist Chris Zenk alongside guitarist Stefan Römhild and drummer Klaus Nowakowski, the group relied on a constantly shifting roster of sidemen whose numbers rivaled the Spinal Tap lineup; among those temporary members were Paragon bassist Jan Bünning and Michael Hankel, later of Holy Moses. That same absence of clear direction probably limited their prospects for greater recognition. When the band delivered its 1995 farewell album Down, Daniel Geiger had already taken over vocal duties from the departed Zenk, yet Erosion still chose to split up shortly afterward.
