Filipino multi-instrumentalist Idris Vicuña crafts hazy, low-fidelity soundscapes under the Eyedress name, pulling from an eclectic mix of genres and touchstones. Across numerous albums and mixtapes, the project has explored distorted R&B, synth-driven pop, and guitar-led indie material, juxtaposing playful tones against enigmatic atmospheres on efforts such as the 2020 release Let's Skip to the Wedding along with its successors Mulholland Drive in 2021 and Full Time Lover in 2022. Following a move to RCA, Vicuña maintained a steady output of standalone tracks including "Flowers and Chocolate" plus the Mac DeMarco collaboration "The Dark Prince." The expansive, guest-heavy mixtape Vampire in Beverly Hills surfaced in 2024.

Born in Quezon City, Metro Manila, during 1990, Vicuña shifted with his family to the United States at age five and spent his formative years first in Arizona and later in California. Music entered his world during early adolescence when he took up bass in a crust punk outfit inspired by Crass. Returning to Manila in 2005, he launched Bee Eyes alongside film student and friend Julius Valledor. The group drew its moniker from a peer's mother who labeled the pair "B.I.'s," local shorthand for bad influences on her son. Bee Eyes issued several EPs accompanied by self-directed videos and gained modest online notoriety after receiving a cease-and-desist notice from Sub Pop over a copied logo on one of their shirts.

Valledor passed along techniques for programming hip-hop beats, prompting Vicuña to develop a solo outlet in his spare time that would evolve into Eyedress, shaped by artists like J Dilla, Flying Lotus, Frank Ocean, and Odd Future. Early digital tracks generated attention and secured support slots for Grimes and How to Dress Well during their Manila appearances. The first Eyedress EP, Supernatural, arrived in 2013. Produced solely on his father's laptop with free tools, it showcased Vicuña's androgynous, high-pitched vocals alongside a dreamy, narcotic aesthetic reminiscent of the earlier witch house wave. Reception proved favorable, with lead cut "Nature Trips" achieving online traction through its eerie, low-budget clip helmed by Valledor.

Late 2015 brought the debut full-length Shapeshifter via U.K. imprint Headcount Records, featuring a contribution from King Krule under the alias Edgar the Breathtaker. Subsequent evolution appeared on the 2017 follow-up Manila Ice, anchored by the odd, ethereal single "Sofia Coppola." Departing Manila in 2018, Vicuña resettled in the United States, settling in L.A. to concentrate on his work. The ensuing period yielded mixtapes Sensitive G and Dark Web DMT, the latter a joint venture with Lil DMT. In 2020 came Let's Skip to the Wedding, presenting a more emotional, romance-focused take on his blurred sonic palette. Mulholland Drive arrived the next year and contained the viral track "Something About You." Building on that momentum, the 2022 album Full Time Lover merged hip-hop, post-punk, and shoegaze elements.

Early 2023 marked a signing with RCA Records, after which Vicuña kept releasing singles such as "Flowers & Chocolate" and "Escape from the Killer 2008," along with joint efforts involving Mac DeMarco and the Marías. His subsequent undertaking, the expansive 34-track mixtape Vampire in Beverly Hills, emerged in April 2024 and included contributions from John Maus, Wild Nothing, Rico Nasty, and additional guests.
