Fairyland

France's Fairyland, whose moniker seems an unlikely contender for the least metallic heavy metal band name imaginable, focus on grandiose power metal steeped in fantasy themes and propelled by keyboards, along with progressive and symphonic flourishes that echo the approach taken by Italy's Rhapsody and Germany's Avantasia. Multi-instrumentalist Willdric Lievin originated the project in 1998, later drawing in guitarist Anthony Parker and keyboardist Philippe Giordana over the ensuing years, yet the group waited until 2003 to lay down its first full-length release, Of Wars in Osyrhia, enlisting Spanish vocalist Elisa C. Martin at that time as she moved from Dark Moor toward her subsequent endeavor, Dreamker. No further recordings have emerged from Fairyland following Martin's departure.
