Biography
In 2010, Orange County singer/songwriter and natural frontwoman Jessie Jones assembled the California psych-rock outfit Feeding People. Her vocals shift between sensual and explosive registers, occupying territory between Lana Del Ray and Grace Slick. The band’s sound incorporated the apocalyptic wailing of the 13th Floor Elevators, the moody atmospherics of Esben and the Witch, and the progressive noise rock of Crystal Antlers, leading to the 2011 release of their self-titled debut album on vinyl via Burger Records. Hanni El Khatib and Jonny Bell (Crystal Antlers) produced the Island Universe EP, which Innovative Leisure issued in 2013. Although the EP earned praise from both critics and listeners, Feeding People disbanded in 2013; after a brief hiatus from music, Jessie Jones began her solo career in 2015.
