Biography
Formed in 1995 under the name Riverfenix, the Houston outfit now called Fenix TX brought together vocalists and guitarists Will Salazar and Chris Lewis, bassist Adam Lewis, and drummer Damon Delapaz, formerly of 30 Foot Fall. Shifting personnel kept the early lineup from generating much material or playing shows until 1996. The following year the band joined the Mullets Across America Tour alongside fellow pop-punk acts Home Grown, Cousin Oliver, and the Hippos, which opened a door to Drive-Thru Records. That summer they cut their self-titled debut for the imprint; MCA later acquired and reissued the album, placing the group on the road with Less Than Jake and blink-182. By 1999 the band had adopted the name Fenix TX, appeared on the Warped Tour, and prepared its second album, Lechuza, which surfaced in 2001. Activity ceased in 2002, but the members reconvened in 2005 for the live reunion set Purple Reign in Blood. After the breakup, Salazar and Chris Lewis launched Denver Harbor.
