Fine China

Since 1997 the indie rock quartet Fine China has been sharpening a keyboard-heavy approach. Although their dense electronic textures register as both welcoming and forceful, the group takes satisfaction in the space rock atmosphere it has cultivated. Bassist Greg Markov, keyboardist Joshua Block, drummer Thom Walsh, and frontman Rob Withem, who also plays keyboards and guitar, began performing in and around their native Phoenix, gaining notice through bills shared with fellow space rock acts such as Joy Electric and Starflyer 59. Their first release, When the World Sings, arrived on Tooth & Nail in mid-2000. Two years afterward You Make Me Hate Music surfaced, lifting Fine China deeper into the indie rock arena.
