Biography
Lionel Flairs, born in Paris, France, works as a French electro producer whose initial long-player arrived in 2009 after the 2008 dance successes “Better Than Prince” and “Trucker's Delight.” He left France for the United Kingdom at age 22 and spent several years based in Staines, England, just outside London. While maintaining residences in both countries, he built recognition through the single “Better Than Prince,” whose promotional video—directed by Jonas & François, the team behind Justice’s “D.A.N.C.E.,” Kanye West’s “Good Life,” and Madonna’s “4 Minutes”—circulated widely online. His first appearance on record under the Flairs name came in 2004 with the release of The Non PC EP. Roxour issued the five-track Better Than Prince EP in 2008, containing alternate versions of the title cut along with his follow-up hit “Trucker's Delight.” A separate promotional clip accompanied that song and likewise drew broad notice across the music blogosphere. “Trucker's Delight” was also featured on the Mixmag mix album Part of NYE Never Dies (2008). Capitalizing on the momentum of those two tracks, Flairs delivered his debut album, Sweat Symphony, on 3rd Side Records in 2009; the set gathers both hits with additional new material and includes collaborations alongside Alex Gopher, Etienne de Crécy, and Cosmo Vitelli.
