Biography
French jazz-pop chanteuse Florence K entered the world in Montreal during 1983, the daughter of guitarist and composer Hany Khoriaty together with opera singer Natalie Choquette. She first appeared on television at the age of six; at sixteen she joined her mother’s tour as pianist, then delivered her opening solo concert one year afterward. Over the ensuing stretch she held the post of house pianist at Montreal’s Stash Café, steadily enlarging a wide-ranging songbook performed in French, English, Portuguese, and Spanish through sporadic breaks for brief residencies that took her to Atlantic City, Casablanca, and Hanoi. Her first LP, Live au Lion d'Or, appeared in 2005 on the Red Blues imprint she founded. Bossa Blue arrived in mid-2006.
