Spanish pop trio Fondo Flamenco originated in Sevilla, Spain, during 2006 and consists of three local musicians: Alejandro Astola, born April 9, 1990; Antonio Manuel Ríos, who performs under the name Dipán and was born July 6, 1989; and Rafael Ruda, born October 27, 1990. Their first recording appeared that same year as the six-track demo Ojalá, whose title song later surfaced on the group’s proper studio debut, Contracorriente, which arrived in 2007. A follow-up full-length, Las Cartas Sobre la Mesa, reached stores in 2008 and achieved greater commercial traction than the initial album, yielding the Top 20 singles “Q, Tal” and “El Ultimo Adios.”
