Los Delinqüentes, a Spanish flamenco fusion ensemble, originated in 1998 in Jerez de la Frontera, Cádiz, Spain. The act began as a teenage duo featuring Miguel Ángel Benítez (aka El Migué; vocals, guitar; born on June 20, 1983) alongside Marcos del Ojo (aka El Canijo; vocals, guitar; born on June 27, 1982). Diego Pozo (aka El Ratón; guitar; born on October 21, 1975) later joined, expanding the lineup to a trio. Their first album, El Sentimiento Garrapatero Que Nos Traen las Flores, appeared on Virgin Records in 2001, with Arquitectura del Aire en la Calle following in 2003. Benítez died on June 6, 2004, prompting the remaining members to recruit guest musicians such as Bebe, Diego Carrasco, and Kiko Veneno for the next project. Released in 2005, El Verde Rebelde Vuelve contained the group’s biggest single to date, the Top Five hit “La Primavera Trompetera.” A 2006 greatest-hits set issued in tribute to Benítez, Recuerdos Garrapateros de la Flama y el Carril, closed out the band’s activity for several years. Del Ojo and Pozo resurfaced in 2009 with the comeback album Bienvenidos a la Época Iconoclasta, which became their most successful release by reaching number two on the Spanish albums chart and included the hit single “El Increíble Gorrión Mojado.”
