Biography
Valentin Huchon, the Montreal-based producer and motion designer, leads the Fonkynson project, whose fusion of disco, funk, and house extends the French Touch lineage. Raised in France, he received early guitar lessons from his father and absorbed the elder Huchon’s musical preferences, which centered on the Rolling Stones and Jimi Hendrix. Funk and dance music soon exerted a stronger pull, especially the work of the Chemical Brothers and Motorbass. He issued the 2008 single So Damn Fresh on Super Hi-Fi under the Nick Fonkynson name, then shortened the alias to Fonkynson for the 2013 Thirsty EP on Heavy Disco. Horny followed in 2015 as an EP on Montreal’s Lisbon Lux label, showcasing some of his most assertive tracks to that point.
