In his home country of Brazil, Frank Aguiar earned recognition as the caozinho ("little dog") of the keyboards because of his tendency to yelp while performing. His musical journey began at age six after receiving a concertina from his father. Soon afterward, the young Aguiar started appearing at regional festivals and music contests, leading him at fifteen to relocate to Teresina for formal music training. Upon finishing his studies, he moved to São Paulo in 1992, where he issued his first album before the end of that same year. Although his initial four independent releases failed to attract significant attention from Brazil's mainstream listeners, the fifth effort, 1997's Um Show de Forró, Vol. 1, achieved gold status. Additional installments in the Um Show de Forró series came afterward, with several attaining platinum, double platinum, and diamond certifications. The eighth volume appeared in 2006.
