Jorge & Mateus

Formed as a Brazilian sertanejo act in Itumbiara, Goiás, Brazil, during 2005, Jorge e Mateus consist of Jorge Alves Barcelos, born August 27, 1982, and Mateus Pedro Liduário de Oliveira, born July 15, 1984. The pair issued their first album, the live recording Ao Vivo em Goiânia, in 2007 after several years of stage work and after inking a deal with Universal Music. Exposure increased sharply once the track “De Tanto Te Querer” from that release appeared in the Rede Globo telenovela A Favorita. Subsequent live projects O Mundo é Tão Pequeno: Ao Vivo in 2009 and Ao Vivo Sem Cortes in 2010 likewise arrived as combined CD and DVD packages. Two further concert sets followed: Hora É Agora: Ao Vivo em Jurerê in 2012 and At the Royal Albert Hall the next year. Returning to the studio late in 2014, the duo delivered Os Anjos Cantam in 2015. Their next live effort, 2016’s Como. Sempre Feito. Nunca (Ao Vivo), held the top position on the Brazilian charts for ten weeks.
