Brazilian sertaneja duo Bruno & Marrone spent ten years on the circuit before achieving widespread visibility. Vinicius Felix de Miranda, later known as Bruno, entered the world in 1969 as the child of a Goiânia businessman and spent a full decade performing alone at local bars and private events. After repeated unsuccessful attempts to locate a compatible collaborator, he turned to established sertaneja figures Leandro y Leonardo, who arranged an introduction the following evening to José Roberto Ferreira, known professionally as Marrone. Born in 1964 and likewise raised in Goiânia, Marrone divided his early years between agricultural work and mastering the concertina. The pair issued their first album, Bruno & Marrone, Vol. 1, through Warner Continental in 1995, followed a year later by Bruno & Marrone, Vol. 2. Their sentimental approach and relentless schedule gradually secured respect within the sertaneja community and cultivated a loyal regional audience. Because of their nonstop appearances, the two generated an extensive body of original songs, prompting Warner Continental to issue at least one project annually between 1995 and 2006. Their audiences expanded from modest bars and clubs to large arenas and stadiums. In 2006 the duo recorded a concert album and DVD in their hometown of Goiânia; the resulting set, their fourteenth CD and third live DVD, appeared on Sony BMG.
