Around 2002 sertaneja began enjoying widespread acclaim that propelled numerous key figures from the genre out of the shadows and into the spotlight. This countryside sound, reminiscent of country music from the United States, surged onto global rankings and turned unknowns into household names. Cesar Menotti and Fabiano exemplify this trajectory as a prominent pair within the movement. Adhering to the typical sertaneja format of two men—one handling lead vocals (Fabiano) while the other provides guitar support (Menotti)—the act cut their initial album during 2004. Shortly thereafter they inked an agreement with Universal Music and delivered their opening major-label effort the following year. Titled Palavras de Amor ao Vivo, both the record and its companion DVD achieved enduring popularity among listeners in Brazil, maintaining a spot on domestic rankings more than two years post-release. The live taping took place in Belo Horizonte and yielded hits including "Caso Marcado" and "Paixao Mineria," tracks that resonated deeply with enthusiasts of the increasingly visible sertaneja sound.
