Zezé di Camargo & Luciano stand among the most commercially dominant sertanejo acts in Brazilian music history. The duo, formed by brothers born in Pirenópolis, Goiás, consists of Zezé (Mirosmar José de Camargo, August 17, 1963) and Luciano (Welson David de Camargo, January 20, 1973). Their first full-length release arrived in 1991 with the million-selling É o Amor, whose title track quickly became a sertanejo standard and was later covered by MPB legend Maria Bethânia.

They followed that breakthrough by issuing one album annually for the rest of the decade, each moving more than a million copies: Coração Está em Pedaços (1992), Saudade Bandida (1993), Salva Meu Coração (1994), Pão de Mel (1995), Indiferença (1996), É Minha Vida (1997), Pra Não Pensar em Você (1998), and Pare (1999). Although these projects were technically self-titled, widespread confusion led to their common identification by release year alone.

After 2000 the pair maintained a roughly annual release pace. Their first live album, Ao Vivo, appeared that year; later concert recordings include Diferente (2006) and Duas Horas de Sucesso: Ao Vivo (2009), along with several additional in-concert videos. Other releases encompass the 2006 box set 15 Anos de Sucesso, containing three CDs and a DVD, plus the Spanish-language albums Camargo & Luciano (1995) and Zezé di Camargo & Luciano em Espanhol (2001).

The duo’s story also inspired the award-winning 2005 documentary 2 Filhos de Francisco - A História de Zezé di Camargo e Luciano, one of the most successful Brazilian films ever made.
