Known for his thuggish and rough approach within Dirty South rap, Frayser Boy developed into an artist later than most. The Memphis, TN, native first reached Three 6 Mafia's Hypnotize Camp Posse after a friend employed by the crew introduced him. Lacking a car, that same friend relied on Frayser Boy for rides to work, which gradually built his connection to the Posse. He later joined their promotional staff, yet continued sharpening his lyrical abilities away from the spotlight. Three 6 responded by placing him on La' Chat's 2001 album Murder She Spoke. Hypnotize Minds followed with the release of his debut full-length project, Gone on That Bay, in 2003. The hard-hitting album's title prompted mistaken assumptions that "Bay" pointed to the Bay Area and implied Frayser Boy was a West Coast artist. In reality, "Bay" served as local shorthand for Memphis's busiest cocaine-trafficking zone, and the record's sound remained firmly tough Dirty South. He resurfaced in 2005 with Me Being Me, whose party single "I Got Dat Drank" featured Mike Jones and Paul Wall.
