Biography
Gehennah originated in 1992 as a blunt Swedish hard rock/thrash quartet whose approach fused the working-class bravado of Motörhead with Venom’s poisonous intensity. Their first studio album, Hardrocker, surfaced on Primitive Art Records in 1995 and helped cultivate a devoted local audience before the group departed for Osmose Productions and delivered the follow-up King of the Sidewalk. Decibel Rebel arrived in 1998, after which the band devoted the opening years of the millennium to assorted excesses and then unveiled the suitably titled 10 Years of Fucked Up Behavior EP in 2003. By 2014 the lineup had stabilized around vocalist Mr. Violence, guitarist Rob Stringburner, drummer Hellcop, and bass player Charley Knuckleduster, leading to the Metal Police EP/single that earned the quartet a contract with Metal Blade. A full-length album also called Metal Police appeared in 2015, containing the earlier EP, two additional tracks from those sessions, and six re-recorded cuts from the group’s nineties period. The self-described street-metalers issued their first batch of entirely new material for the label the next year with Too Loud to Live, Too Drunk to Die.
