Biography
In Montreal's early months of 1997, the ska ensemble General Rudie assembled with keyboardist Marc Thompson, guitarist Luke Quin, vocalist/sax man Phil Dixon, drummer Rob Radford, tromonist Nicky Popovic, and bassist/vocalist Stefan Popowycz. Their music drew primary inspiration from Jamaican ska while folding in punk, pop, and jazz components. The group put out Cooling the Mark on Stomp in 2001 and steadily developed an audience across North America. The Take Your Place LP surfaced in 2004.
