Originating from the vision of Alberta-born Evan John Uschenko, the Canadian outfit Ghost Woman crafts a mesmerizing fusion of gritty garage rock, psychedelic-tinged punk, and melodic lo-fi indie pop. The project took shape in 2016, yielding a self-titled debut album in 2022 and the follow-up Anne, If the next year.

Uschenko began his path as a touring multi-instrumentalist alongside Edmonton indie artist Michael Rault. Performances alongside Jacco Gardner, King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, and Mild High Club influenced the band's direction, which also draws from boundary-breaking acts such as Can, Beak, Jefferson Airplane, the Byrds, and the Firesign Theatre. Ghost Woman first appeared in 2021 via the three-song EP Lost Echo's before signing with London's Full Time Hobby imprint to issue their debut full-length in 2022. That same year brought the singles "Broke" and "The End of a Gun," both later featured on the sophomore album Anne, If. Issued in 2023, most of the atmospheric and stripped-down record was captured using Uschenko's Tascam 388 tape machine.
