Gilda first engaged with music by arranging festivals at a Catholic school, where her vocal talent quickly surfaced. An introduction to musician Tito Giménez led the teacher to serve as a backup singer, first with the group la Barra and then within Crema Americana. In 1993 Giménez urged her toward a solo path; after signing with the local imprint Magenta she recorded De Corazón A Corazón. Corazón Herido appeared the following year. Pasito A Pasito arrived in 1995 and contained the hit single “No Me Arrepiento De Este Amor.” While crisscrossing the country to promote her album Corazón Valiente, the artist’s career ended when she died in a car accident on September 7, 1996.
