Biography
Andrya Ambro, who had previously drummed for Talk Normal, launched Gold Dime, an outfit whose experimental rock navigates abrasive textures, sensual passages, and dreamlike atmospheres, sometimes shifting through all three within a single piece. Once Talk Normal paused activity in 2013, Ambro picked up guitar to convey her musical concepts more clearly to the players she hoped to work with, a step that soon prompted her to write her own material. Gold Dime commenced live appearances in 2014, with Ambro handling drums and vocals while Jessica Ackerley contributed guitar and Ian Douglas-Moore played bass. In the studio Ambro enlisted Jordan Bernstein, bassist of the Dreebs, together with Lazar Bozic, guitarist from the Sediment Club. The band’s first album, Nerves, recorded with assistance from Justin Frye of PC Worship, Jonathan Schenke of Eaters, and Ambro’s former Talk Normal colleague Sarah Register, reached listeners in June 2017.
