Sannhet, an instrumental trio, fuse post-metal, sludge, and black metal into churning, experimental sounds by drawing on metal’s most atmospheric techniques. The group came together in Brooklyn, New York, in 2010, its lineup consisting of guitarist John Refano, bassist AJ Annunziata, and drummer Christopher Todd. They quickly gained recognition through intense live performances that matched the band’s dense sonic textures with visual elements, supplying viewers a focal point as the musicians methodically stacked layered, monolithic components into towering walls of sound. Their first full-length album, Known Flood, appeared on Sacrament Records in 2013. That same year the band followed with the two-song EP Lion’s Eye. In 2015 they delivered their second studio album, Revisionist, on the San Francisco-based experimental label The Flenser, then issued Young Death, a collection of rare early and unreleased tracks, in 2016. Their third long-player, So Numb, surfaced in 2017 through Profound Lore.
