Biography
Philadelphia's Rosetta, unrelated to the Michigan alt-rock band sharing its name, excavates the expansive trance-metal vein first opened by predecessors including Neurosis, Isis, and Cult of Luna. Michael Armine (vocals/samples/electronics), J. Matthew Weed (guitar, violin), David Grossman (bass), and Bruce McMurtrie Jr. (drums) assembled the lineup in summer 2003; one year later the quartet aligned with Translation Loss Records and issued its expansive debut full-length, Galilean Satellites, in 2005. The second studio album, Wake/Lift, surfaced in 2007, with A Determinism of Morality following in 2010.
