Born in Australia, the accomplished Canadian country performer Gord Bamford relocated as a young boy to the wide-open terrain surrounding Lacombe, Alberta. His mother, herself a country vocalist, inspired him to chase a career in music. Breakthrough arrived in 1995 with his win at the Nornet Radio Search for the Stars competition. A debut single followed and secured enough airplay to justify recording his first album, the self-released God's Green Earth, which appeared in 2000. Critics responded favorably to the collection, and several tracks from it reached radio.

Nashville’s creative scene drew Bamford southward, where he teamed in 2003 with leading producers and songwriters, shaping his second album, Life Is Good. Issued in 2004, the record delivered multiple Canadian hits, among them the Top Ten single “All About Her.” During the following three years he toured alongside major figures such as Tim McGraw, Terri Clark, and Kenny Rogers while collecting nominations from the Canadian Country Music Awards.

Byron Hill produced Bamford’s third album, Honkytonks and Heartaches, released in September 2007. Both the project and its opening track, “Blame It on That Red Dress,” proved popular, earning the artist a nomination at the 2008 Juno Awards.
