Biography
Both solo and through his roles in the Club Dogo and Dogo Gang collectives, rapper Gué Pequeno shaped the direction of Italian hip-hop. Across a trajectory that started during his teenage years, his approach matured from the energetic group dynamic of Club Dogo's early-2000s output to the 2020 solo release Mr. Fini, where he folded references to multiple styles into his fluid rap tracks.
Born Cosimo Fini in 1980, he began rapping in 1997 alongside the short-lived crew Le Sacre Scuole. He soon linked with two former members, Jake La Furia and Joe Dan, to establish Club Dogo and, later, the 17-member Dogo Gang. Between them the two groups issued eight official projects across five years and dominated Italy's rap landscape. Alongside those commitments, Pequeno launched separate ventures that included the Hashishinz Sound, Vol. 1 compilation with producer Deleterio, two Fastlife Mixtapes alongside DJ Harsh, the book La Legge del Cane written with La Furia, and a co-hosting stint on Radio Deejay's Un Giorno Da Cani program, all before issuing his first solo album, the Top Five-charting Il Ragazzo D'oro, in 2011.
His follow-up, 2013's Bravo Ragazzo, climbed still higher on the Italian charts and earned platinum certification, driven in part by three Top Ten singles: "Business," "Rose Nere," and the title track. He maintained a full calendar, appearing on Club Dogo's commercially successful 2012 album Noi Siamo il Club and its 2014 successor Non Siamo Più Quelli Di Mi Fist. In 2015 he moved to Def Jam for Vero, which topped the Italian charts. The next year Santeria, his joint project with Marracash, held the number-one position in Italy for three weeks behind the Top 20 single "Nulla Accade," while the pair also issued the companion mixtape Double Dragon. Gentleman arrived in 2017 as his fourth solo album and surpassed the double-platinum threshold. Subsequent years brought continued recognition through releases such as 2018's Sinatra, 2020's Mr. Fini, and the 2021 DJ Harsh-hosted mixtape Fastlife 4.
