East Coast producer Harry Fraud built a reputation around his hazy, sample-driven aesthetic together with an extensive catalog that includes dozens of team-ups alongside respected rappers. Years of behind-the-scenes work preceded wider recognition for his beats. Simon Cowell became the first prominent industry voice to praise him, yet the moment occurred far from any American Idol stage. As Cowell approached the podium to receive a 2010 International Emmy Award, the music caught his ear and prompted him to pause his remarks, request a replay, and declare, "That's a hit record." Momentum soon followed with his production on a French Montana single, after which opportunities multiplied rapidly. Subsequent credits linked him to numerous rap and hip-hop figures such as Pusha T, Rick Ross, the Weeknd, Wiz Khalifa, Dave East, and additional artists. Projects including 2012’s Cigarette Boats alongside Spitta Andretti, also known as Curren$y, and 2021’s The Plugs I Met 2 with Benny the Butcher delivered notable visibility, while further releases continued with 2024’s Lavish Misery featuring Ransom.

Raised in Brooklyn under his given name Rory William Quigley, Fraud started crafting beats immediately after high school and spent several years employed at a recording studio. In the late 2000s he began creating music for the International Emmy Awards, and by 2009 and 2010 his original instrumentals attracted national notice, largely through tracks he supplied for French Montana and Lil’ Cease. The 2011 release of French Montana’s “Shot Caller” showcased the emerging producer’s blend of forceful and relaxed elements while revealing his command of hip-hop lineage. Over the ensuing years his standing grew via an array of collaborations involving Curren$y, Fat Trel, Prodigy, Wiz Khalifa, and Ab-Soul.

Output reached a peak in 2013, when his contributions appeared on projects by Funkmaster Flex, the Weeknd, and Talib Kweli. That same year he founded his Surf School label, also known as SRFSCHL, delivered a remix of Sam Smith’s “Nirvana,” handled the full Saaab Stories EP for Action Bronson, joined Eddie B for the Horsepower EP, and issued the instrumental collection Royal Palm, the mixtape Adrift, and High Tide for Scion A/V. The next twelve months brought further tracks for Fat Trel, Styles P, and Riff Raff, among others. In 2018 Fraud unveiled the collaborative Marina EP, which highlighted his production across beats hosting verses from Curren$y, Wiz Khalifa, and Smoke DZA. Work with Curren$y intensified in 2020 through the rapid succession of The OutRunners, The Director’s Cut, and Bonus Footage. During 2021 he partnered with Jim Jones on The Fraud Department, reunited with Benny the Butcher for the sequel EP The Plugs I Met 2, and joined Dave East for Hoffa. The following year saw a reunion with longtime associate French Montana on their joint project Montega, plus You Take the Credit, We’ll Take the Check with Jay Worthy and Beyond Belief with 38 Spesh.

Sustained work with Curren$y yielded Vices in 2023. Additional projects that year included Virtuoso with Valee, Life After Neph with RXK Nephew, and The Am3rican Dream alongside Jay Worthy and Kamaiyah. The concise 2024 release Lavish Misery arrived with Ransom.
