Biography
The moniker Higamos Hogamos derives from an apparently meaningless term philosopher William James invented to signify "the meaning of life" during his nitrous oxide experiments. Resembling James in approach, this stoney and experimental electro duo fuses contemporary electronic music with '70s glam, psychedelia, and Krautrock, placing particular emphasis on the latter. Steve Webster, known as the Black Neon, and Toby Jenkins, aka Zan Pan, the Squire of Somerton, had previously collaborated in Fort Lauderdale before launching their recording endeavor in London during the 2006 winter holidays. Drawing strong inspiration from the propulsive electro rhythms of Motorik German ensembles like Neu!, Kraftwerk, and Harmonia, the duo produced several tracks that caught the attention of Saul Kane from DC Recordings, leading to their signing with the label, which issued their debut album in March 2009.
