Seattle's High Pulp operate as an improvisational instrumental ensemble whose sound fuses jazz fusion, post-rock textures, and experimental electronic elements. Their initial notice arrived via the 2018 debut Bad Juice alongside the covers EP Mutual Attraction. Wider recognition followed in 2022 with the sophomore album Pursuit of Ends, which featured contributions from Theo Croker and Brandee Younger. Psych-jazz partnerships continued into 2023 on Days in the Desert, highlighted by appearances from guitarist Jeff Parker and producer Daedelus.

Drummer Bobby Granfelt guides the collective, which originated in 2017 through regular sessions at Seattle's historic venue The Royal Room. Those gatherings shaped the kinetic mix of jazz, hip-hop, electronic, and post-rock ingredients heard on Bad Juice. Following the 2019 Light Fix EP, the U.K.-based KingUnderground label took notice and issued the three-volume Mutual Attraction series, presenting reinterpretations of material by Sun Ra, Frank Ocean, and additional artists.

High Pulp resurfaced in April 2022 with Pursuit of Ends, whose atmospheric framework was enriched by saxophonist Jaleel Shaw, trumpeter Theo Croker, and harpist Brandee Younger. A comparable array of guests appeared on the psychedelic 2023 release Days in the Desert, bringing in guitarist Jeff Parker, guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel, electronic producer Daedelus, and further contributors.
