Biography
Los Angeles-based pair Holychild craft explosive electronic pop laced with R&B elements, foregrounding vocalist Liz Nistico and multi-instrumentalist Louie Diller’s penchant for wry, ironic commentary and their skill at skewering pop-culture conventions. The two first crossed paths as undergraduates at George Washington University in Washington, D.C.; once they earned their degrees, they moved west to Los Angeles and established the project. Momentum built around the 2013 track “Happy with Me,” which topped the Hype Machine and circulated widely online, prompting a deal with Glassnote and the 2014 arrival of the MindSpeak EP. During that same twelve-month stretch they supported Danish singer MØ as opening act on the road. Their first proper studio album, the Greg Wells and Cian Riordan-produced The Shape of Brat Pop to Come, surfaced in 2015 and featured the single “Running Behind.” A follow-up EP, America Oil Lamb, arrived the next year. Holychild resurfaced in 2018 with the standalone release “Wishing You Away.”
