Howl

In 2006 the Providence, Rhode Island quartet Howl assembled, creating a tense alliance between progressive sludgecore and metalcore through the efforts of vocalist/guitarist Vincent Hausman, guitarist Andrea Black, bassist Robert Icaza, and drummer Timmy St. Amour. Live shows took priority from the outset, as the band shared bills with Kylesa and Torche before reaching a wider audience via a self-released EP that bore the group’s name and a subsequent contract with the respected extreme metal imprint Relapse Records. Their first full-length album, Full of Hell, surfaced in summer 2010 and led directly to another round of touring, this time alongside Valient Thorr.
