Biography
The Norwegian danseband Ingemars achieved mainstream recognition in 2008 via the Top Ten album I Finnskogens Rike, capping ten years of studio releases and twenty years of performing. Originating in Hedmark, Norway, during 1986, the lineup features Terje Ingemar Larsson on vocals and guitar, born November 11, 1959; Steve Andersson handling vocals and bass since October 20, 1958; Odd Einar Løvtjernet on guitar from November 18, 1961; Odd Arne Sørensen on accordion beginning August 28, 1973; Mentz Dagfinn Gressberg at the keyboards, born in 1957; and Tommy Hagen on drums since August 8, 1964. The group issued its first recording, the single “Ei Bygd I Hedmark,” in 1995 to represent its local roots. Only after securing a contract with Tylden & Co. did Ingemars deliver its initial full-length project, Spellemenn Østpå Skogen, in 1999. Swing På Høge Hæler arrived two years afterward in 2001, yet another extended gap preceded the 2004 release of På Egne Væger. That album marked the band’s chart entry in Norway and prompted the 2006 best-of collection Gull, which also entered the Top 30. The 2008 effort I Finnskogens Rike then became the group’s biggest commercial success, climbing to number six and confirming Ingemars among Norway’s leading dansebands.
