Biography
Hailing from Camano Island, Washington, the versatile composer Jeff Johnson, a prolific creator of ambient and new age-infused contemporary pop who also serves as multi-instrumentalist and producer, first built his sound on foundations in progressive rock and contemporary Christian music. Themes of fantasy, science fiction, and spirituality shaped his early projects, among them Face of the Deep, Through the Door, Fallen Splendour, and Pilgrimage, whereas later albums such as The Isle of Dreams, A Thin Silence, Standing Still, and Journey Prayers wove in worldbeat, Celtic, jazz, and holiday music. Johnson has proven equally active as a collaborator, teaming with classical singer Janet Chvatal, flutist Brian Dunning, and American guitarist and vocalist Phil Keaggy, the last of whom joined him on the 2009 release Frio Suite and the 2012 album WaterSky.
