Jeremy Menuhin, a pianist from Britain, was born to the violinist Yehudi Menuhin. Following his time at Eton College, he pursued studies in composition under Nadia Boulanger, conducting lessons with Hans Swarowsky, and piano instruction from Mindu Katz. In 1966 he took the stage alongside the London Philharmonic Orchestra, and two years later issued his debut recording for Angel Records featuring the same ensemble in a collaboration that included his father along with aunts Hepzibah Menuhin and Yaltah Menuhin. Mid-'70s setbacks from a strained tendon led to canceled engagements, yet 1984 marked his return via a New York appearance that earned him victory in the Young Concert Artists Piano Competition. Orchestras such as the Vienna Philharmonic, Berlin Philharmonic, English Chamber Orchestra, St. Petersburg Philharmonic, Royal Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, and Salzburg Mozarteum have hosted his performances, among numerous others, although chamber music accounts for the bulk of his recording work. On the Adès label, his interpretation of Bartók's violin sonatas alongside Yehudi Menuhin received the Grand Prix du Disque.
