Biography
Former Puerto Rican basketball and volleyball standout Jéssica Cristina entered music at fifteen through the Juventud Vibra contest, which quickly led to a Sony Music contract. Luis Angel handled production on her 1992 debut Aprendiendo A Querer, a set that paired her with Ricky Martin on “Todo Es Vida” and delivered her first hit, “Cosquillas En El Corazón.” Two years later Carlos Lara produced the follow-up, Mas Allá. After switching to BMG, Jéssica Cristina grew drawn to tropical sounds and began blending merengue and bachata into her pop-ballad foundation. The self-titled album she issued in 1998 contained her first original composition, “Llanto De Pasión.”
