Biography
Born in Santo Domingo on August 30, 1957, the Dominican Republic sonero Raulin Rosendo later made New York City his home. Immersed from childhood in the pulse of Afro-Antilles rhythms, he launched his career at twelve by joining the merengue outfit El Chivo y Su Banda and went on to perform with Fernandito Villalona, Conjunto Clásico, and Los Vecinos. Earning the moniker “the Angry Sonero,” he stepped out as a solo artist with the 1991 release Salsa, Solamente Salsa. By 1993 he was cutting tracks in New York alongside producer Ricky Gonzalez, yielding the hit singles “Amor en Secreto” and “Santo Domingo.” The strong reception of ¡Lo Maximo!, Dominicano Para El Mundo in 1996, ¡Contrólate! in 1997, and Llego la Ley in 1998 placed him among the leading salsa acts of the era. Donde Me Coja la Noche arrived in 1999, followed by Raulin en Venezuela in 2001, Fama Es Peligrosa in 2003, Mujer Como Tu in 2005, and Dame Otra Oportunidad in 2006.
